  7. Remote gets discovered by the Fire TV as it will appear on the list.
  8. In the drop-down list of “Fire TV Remotes,” the new or replacement remote will be paired successfully.

Pairing Smartphone as a Remote

You also can use the Amazon Fire TV application as a remote to switch between options on a remote or easily on a smartphone. Amazon has launched the Fire TV mobile app which is on the Google Play Store and also on Apple App Store. This application performs all functions as the original remote in your smartphone.

  1. Start with connecting the Smartphone (Android or iOS) to the same WiFi into which the Firestick is connected.

2. Open the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and look for the Amazon Fire TV application.

3. Search the result and tap.

4. Install the application.

5. Select Open to get the application launched.

6. Sign in with the application using the same Amazon account credential used for Firestick.

7. Enter the 4 digit code displayed on Firestick. Immediately it’ll start pairing.

8. Once paired, the Firestick Remote button will appear on the Application screen.

9. Now Smartphone will work as a Firestick Remote to perform all the activities on Firestick.

Amazon Fire TV application is more helpful when the Firestick paired remote is lost or has stopped working. You can use your Smartphone as a Firestick remote until you get a replacement one.

Pairing a new Fire Stick remote without WiFi?

Press and hold the ☰ button Back button and left side of the navigational circle then Select ‘Go to Network Settings’ from the remote. Fire Stick Remote is now paired successfully.

Unpairing Firestick Remote

You cannot unpair a Firestick remote if there’s just one remote with one Firestick device. But you can do this attempt when you have another Fire device and want to pair this remote to the second Fire device.

If there are multiple remotes connected with the same Firestick, you can unpair one of the remotes.

Follow these simple and quick steps to Unpair.

1. Go to the Home screen and select the Settings menu.

2. Select Controller & Bluetooth Devices.

3. Select the Amazon Fire TV Remotes.

4. Select the Firestick Remote that you want to unpair.

5. Press the Menu on the three-line button on the remote, not with the one which you would like to unpair.

6. Select on the remote.

How to reset your Fire Stick remote

You can do this if you’ve got a basic edition remote.

  1. While holding down the Home button click the Menu button three times.
  2. Now let go of the Home button. Press the Menu button nine times.
  3. Now remove the remote batteries and then disconnect the facility cord from Fire Stick. Wait for a minute then re-insert the remote batteries and plug into the Fire Stick.

When the home screen shows click the Home button for 30–40 seconds. The setup will get completed within some time.
